JUST Delegation Visits UK University

From May 28 toJune 2, on behalf of the University，four staff members concerned from the School of Computer Science, Officeof Academic Affairs, the Communist Youth League and the International Office,paid a work visit to the UK. During the visit, the delegation negotiated withCoventry University and the Sino- British Development Association on matterspertaining to the advancement of education cooperation and academic exchanges,teacher training and short-term student training, which produced good results,setting the stage for the signing of a package of further agreements.

Coventry University is a comprehensiveuniversity which emphasizes international development and innovative education.According to the British university rankings chart released by the BritishGuardian in the year 2012, Coventry University ranked No. 33, rising by nearly30 places in the past two years. Since the signing of a cooperative memorandumbetween the two universities last year, the School of Computer Science , underthe guidance and assistance of the International Office, has been workingtogether with Coventry University to promote actively the bridge program ofprofessional courses in computer science and technology. The delegationdiscussed in depth about the details of cooperation extension, re-modified thecooperation agreement and confirmed the final signed version with the Conventry’s Work Division, AcademicExchanges Office and Department of Computer Science. At the same time,International Exchange Office and Youth League Committee of JUST talked withtheir UK counterparts over students’ summer camp program, drawing up student exchange agreements to be signed.

TheSino-British Development Association is a nonprofit organization which takes asits primary goal to advance Chinese and British education, culture, science andtechnology and talent exchanges in order to serve their creative talents andoutstanding youth of both countries. The Association is a new international partner of ouruniversity this year. It jointly developed “the Cambridge Academic Series Development Programs” with the University of Cambridge, which are extremelyattractive to short-term exchange students to study in Britain. They exertgreat influence and enjoy a good reputation among the students of ShanghaiJiaotong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, WuhanUniversity and other prestigious Chinese institutions. The delegationphysically visited the Association and signed a cooperation agreement with it,which laid a foundation for further cooperation.
