ISCLP Training & Testing Center Inauguration at JUST

On 21st June,the inauguration ceremony of ISCLP Training & Testing Center was held inthe conference hall of the School of Foreign Languages at JUST. Wu Lijie,Secretary General of International Society of the Chinese LanguagePedagogy(ISCLP) and concurrently Vice Dean of Chinese Language ResourcesAcademy(CLRA), Wang Jiayou, Vice President of JUST, Ma Manyi, director ofmanagement center of CLRA attended the ceremony.

The ceremony was presided over by Dr. ZhouWeijing. Vice President Wang Jiayou delivered a welcome speech. He extended hisgreetings to WU Lijie and other visitors and expresssed his thanks for theirsupport from ISCLP and CLRA.

He introducedthe university’s history, thefeatures, educational programs, the cooperation and exchanges with otheruniversities abroad, and the special educational programs for internationalstudents. He hoped the School of Foreign Languages would seize the opportunityto ensure the sound development of the Center and make it internationally known.

Wu Lijie said that she was very glad tovisit JUST and deeply impressed by the beautiful campus. She briefed on thedevelopment of CLRA and ISCLP and talked about the prospect of teaching Chineseas a foreign language. With the continuning development of China’s economy and international influence, Chinese hasbecome a hot language for foreign learners. Teaching Chinese as a SecondLangauge (CSL) has been a growing discipline in universities, middle schools aswell as primary schools all over the world. There is an increasing need forqualified CSL teachers. Therefore, teaching Chinese as a Second Language has apromising prospect of employment. The establishment of ISCLP Training &Testing Center, JUST, is bound to promote the CSL teaching and the internationalemployment of graduates from the Center.

Dr. Zhou, Executive Dean of School ofForeign Languages, briefly introduced the application and preparation setup forthe Center as well as its subsequent management. She also reported on the staffmembers of the Center and the progress it had achieved. 

Vice President Wang Jiayou and SecretaryGeneral Wu Lijie jointly unveiled the placque of ISCLP Training & TestingCenter. After the unveiling, Ms. Wu delivered a keynote speech on CSL TeacherTraining and International Employment.
