Recently, representing Zhenjiang Bolian ElectronicTechnology Co. Ltd, Dr.Hao Peng from School of Electronic and InformationEngineering, JUST, became the onlyeligible participant in China to the Tel Aviv Entrepreneurship Competitionwhich lasted five days and included a fully-packaged tour arranged by theIsraeli investors and entrepreneurs. The expenses of this tour were totallycovered by the Israeli government and the personnel joining Dr. Hao includedofficials from the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology andcorrespondents form Jiangsu Satellite TV.
Tel Aviv Entrepreneurship Competition (Start Tel Aviv)is a global competition held by the Israeli government, in which only one setupis selected from each country for a one-week pioneering technology summit. The2013 Chinese selection was the first of this initiative and only one candidatewas chosen.
After several strict evaluations and a joint interviewby the Israel Consulate, Shanghai, and Jiangsu Provincial Science andTechnology Department, Dr. Hao Peng won the competition in China. During thecompetition between October 13 and October 17, Dr. Hao visited Mr. Hasson,chief Israeli scientist and talked with him exclusively. Dr. Hao sincerely invitedMr. Hasson to pay a visit to JUST at his convenience. In addition, Dr. Haovisited University of Tel Aviv.
It was reported that the theme of the competition thisyear was Internet, Technology and Security. Set-ups from 11 countries includingGermany and Britain have achieved great success in their own countries. Otherexamples include Pat Phelan from Ireland, which mainly engages in e-commerce; Simon Lee from Korea, which develops Appswith the function of real-time translator; Pablo M.F. Perez develops APP whichcan help the deaf-mute to read lips andcommunicate with normal people. Eldar Loginous from Latvia devotes itself todeveloping new types of e-books as well as their publications; Mathias Karlssonfrom Sweden engages in developing network security and so on. Most founders ofthe set-ups are younger than 30 years old. Take Maximilian Modi from Germanyand Juan D.R. Luna from Columbia and some other founders for example, they areonly 24 years old. They are energetic and passionate.
These activities coincided with the opening of Digital-Life-Design(DLD) Technology Summit. It not only gathered famous local high-tech companiesand enterprises, but also attracted a few institutes from the USA, Europe and Singapore,including venture capital firms, consulting firms and so on.
