School of Marxism and School of Public Administration were established on March 2011, based on the School of Human Arts and Social Science. Currently, the School of Marxism is in charge of the teaching and scientific research of ideology education for all undergraduate and graduate students, under which there are Department of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History, Department of Mao Zedong Thoughts and Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Department of Ideology and Moral Cultivation and Law Foundation, and Research Center of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics. School of Public Administration takes charge of the cultivation of students majoring in Human Resources Management, Public Affairs Management, Politics and Administration, and Tourism Management, as well as the humanities education for all students in the University. Under the School, there are the Department of Human Resources Management, Department of Public Affairs Management, Department of Politics, Department of Tourism Management, Research Center of Human Resources Management, Research Center of Economic and Social Development, Center of Public Arts Education, Center of Library and Information, and Laboratory Center of Humanities Quality.
The School has a faculty team with proper structure, vitality and high-level teaching and scientific research abilities. There are 87 faculty members, among whom there are 11 professors, 35 associate professors, 38 lecturers and 27 Ph. D holders. In recent five years, they have published almost 500 academic papers, among which almost 100 papers are published in authoritative academic journals; published 20 academic books and textbooks; presided over 3 national-level social science research projects and more than 40 province- and ministry-level research projects, among which about 10 projects have received awards from the municipality, government departments at the provincial level or above; established or have been establishing 3 top-quality courses of JUST.
The School focuses on the academic guidance of the students and the improvement of their comprehensive qualities. They have separately won third-prize and second-prize in the 9th and 10th “The Challenge Cup”, National Undergraduate Curricular Academic Science and Technology Competition, as well as the Excellent Undergraduate Graduation Thesis of Jiangsu Province.
