Sept 5-12, Zhenjiang, JUST To further expand our international cooperation, establish and consolidate our relations of cooperation between European colleges and universities, vice President Wang Jiayou led a delegation to visited Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NUST), the University of Stavanger (US), and Leipzig University of Applied Technology (LUAT), to strengthen and deepen the existing partnership, on the basis of and expand the new cooperation.
Vice President Merete Valda Madland of US along with Dean of the school of technology prof. Ø ystein Lund B ø, Dean of International Office Mr Bjarte Hoem, Dean of Mechanical structure of the engineering department Prof. Tor Hemmingsen and other relevant staff held a friendly conference with JUST delegation. The two sides exchanged the latest development respectively, reviewed the previous cooperation, and reached an agreement on strengthening personnel exchanges and expanding cooperation field. JUST and US signed a memorandum of cooperation in 2017, on the basis of that, JUST organized top graduates to US for half a year. Under the instruments of supervisors of US, they achieved fruitful results.
NUST, one of Europe's top universities in science and engineering, enjoys a high reputation in Europe. Its shipbuilding, petroleum, fisheries, medicine, computer technology and nanotechnology disciplines belong to the world's top disciplines, in the latest 2017 world university academic ranking it ranked 101-150 in the world, 38th in Europe. Five alumni won the Nobel Prize. During the visit to NUST, the two delegations reached an intention to cooperate in education and scientific research, signed a package of memorandums of cooperation, and agreed to continue exchanges and consultations on the implementation plan of cooperation projects. Vice President Wang Jiayou also visited the Marine Engineering Laboratory, the experimental base of the Norwegian Institute of Marine Technology.
Professor Holschemacher, Dean of the School of Civil Engineering of LUAT, introduced the city of Leipzig and LUAT. Mr. Rückert of the International College introduced the details of helping our students to study in Germany, registration and living arrangements.Mr. Soren, the project manager, led the delegation to visit the campus and laboratory of LUAT, and also arranged for Chinese students to meet with the delegation to share their experience of studying in Leipzig.In 2017, JUST and LUAT signed the educational cooperation agreement of 3 + 1 + 1 bachelors-masters degree program of Structural Engineering, and 10 students have been admitted to the program and started their German master's degree studies. LUAT is one of the few institutions of higher education in Germany that provide English academic education.
Relevant staff from the Graduate School, the School of Naval and Ocean Engineering, the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and International Office accompanied the delegation.
