Dean Cui Jie, Vice Dean Zhao Haixiao and counselors of the College of Overseas Education participated in the activity.

On behalf of the university, Wang Jiayou firstly expressed the most cordial New Year wishes to the international students and carefully inquired about the study and living conditions of the students staying in the university. He told them to pay attention to the epidemic protection during the holidays, arrange their work and rest reasonably, combine work and rest, and don't forget to report to their distant families for safety. They should also make full use of the valuable opportunity to study in China and strive to improve their Chinese language skills and intercultural competence, so that they can become a real link of friendship between their home countries and China in the future.

The international students who participated in the activity expressed their sincere gratitude to the university and the leaders for their care and help, where there is love, there is home, and JNU is their second home. GAD, a fluent Chinese speaker from Zambia, told the teacher that this was the third time he stayed in the university for Chinese New Year and the longer he stayed in China, the more he loved the ancient Chinese culture and rich customs. He said he was very proud to be a volunteer and to do his part to give back to the school and teachers.

At the event, Wang Jiayou and the leaders of HEC made dumplings and talked about family life with the international students, and they were all happy and relaxed. The fire-like Chinese knots on the wall symbolised good luck and the jade-like white dumplings on the plate carried happiness and prosperity. The international students were able to experience the unique rhythm of Chinese calligraphy with their ink and brush, and their small works of art, such as Fu, Happy New Year and Peace and Happiness, reflected their good wishes for the New Year and their hopes for life. The students were able to express their hopes for the New Year and their positive pursuit of life.
