On September 30th, the 13th China-Cuba Sci-tech Mixed Commission Meeting on Intergovernmental Cooperation in Science and Technology (the Mixed Commission) was successfully convened in Havana, Cuba. The Presidents of both sides of the Mixed Commission, Long Teng, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, PRC, and Armando Rodriguez, Vice Minister of CITMA jointly signed the minutes of the Mixed Commission meeting. Manuel Marrero, Prime Minister of Cuba, attended the closing ceremony of the meeting and witnessed the signing of the minutes. Ricardo Cabrisas, Vice Premier of Cuba, and Inés María Chapman, Vice Premier of Cuba attended the relevant activities. Eduardo Martínez Díaz, Minister of CITMA, Hua Xin, Chinese Ambassador to Cuba, and Alberto Blanco, Cuban Ambassador to China delivered speeches at the meeting. Li Long, a foreign academician of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba of our university and the Chinese Head of the China-Cuba Sericulture Science and Technology Cooperation Project, and Qian Ping, Secretary of CPC Committee of the Sericulture Research Institute of the School of Biotechnology, were invited by CITMA to attend the meeting.
Vice Minister Long Teng stated that over the 64 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cuba, the bilateral relationship has become a model of sincere mutual assistance among developing countries. Over the past year, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Cuban President Díaz-Canel held two meetings and reached an important consensus on advancing the construction of a China-Cuba community of shared future. The Mixed Commission meeting held today is an important measure to implement the consensuses of the two heads of state. China and Cuba have gained fruitful achievements in scientific and technological cooperation under both bilateral and regional multilateral mechanisms. It is hoped that both sides will continue their efforts, constantly innovate cooperation mechanisms, and deepen bilateral scientific and technological cooperation by supporting joint research, conducting exchanges of scientific and technological personnel, and jointly building joint laboratories, so as to contribute to the development of China-Cuba relations through science and technology.
Representatives of China and Cuba introduced their scientific and technological innovation policies, reviewed the tangible achievements attained through the cooperation between the Industry-University-Research institutions of the two countries, and carried out in-depth discussions on future cooperation, reaching broad consensus.
